Police calls: Shotgun-wielding camper walking to town

Monday, Aug. 5

12:14 p.m. Half a cord of wood was stolen from Lakeside Blvd.

1:04 p.m. A woman said her husband put a lock bar on her car.

5:18 p.m. A resident complained about kids hanging out in the parking lot near City Beach late at night. When he told them to quiet down, they egged his car.

8:54 p.m. A strange man at the post office was taking photos of license plates.

Tuesday, Aug. 6

10:48 a.m. Report of a dispute over a boat slip at Bay Point. A man was advised that since he wasn’t a homeowner, he wasn’t allowed to use the slip for insurance reasons. The man said he could do what he wanted then threw a piece of paper at the woman managing the boat dock.

9:48 p.m. An intoxicated transient and his pit bull were taken to the emergency room. His dog was chained to the hospital bed, but staff was concerned for the safety of everyone in the ER. The man reportedly fit the description from an article in the newspaper.

Wednesday, Aug. 7

12:41 a.m. Report of people on Central Avenue passing around a small bag containing a brown substance that may have been heroin.

1:28 a.m. A woman downtown believed she was given a date rape drug. She alleged a bouncer at a bar drugged her drink while he held it for her.

6:44 p.m. A resident on Washington Avenue had a vehicle towed. The vehicle owner later came to the resident’s door and threatened to punch him in the face.

7:48 p.m. Transients were bothering tourists, cussing and horsing around on Central Avenue.

9:31 p.m. Report of a couple on Minnesota having a verbal dispute. The wife agreed to sleep in the fifth-wheel for the night.

Thursday, Aug. 8

8:15 a.m. People were found sleeping in an abandoned motel on Baker Avenue. They crawled through a window after prying out an AC unit.

12:45 p.m. Report of a dispute over dog poo on West 13th Street. A landscaper witnessed someone letting their dog do his duties on some nearby grass. The landscaper picked up the poo and put it in the back of the dog owner’s pickup. The dog owner then confronted the landscaper and threw the poo back onto the grass.

4 p.m. Kids were seen looking into the windows of a home on Idaho Avenue. They ran off after a woman confronted them.

7:28 p.m. Aggressive transients with dogs were living under the train trestle.

Friday, Aug. 9

6:48 a.m. A man with a banjo was sitting in the middle of a parking lot on U.S. 93 South.

11:41 p.m. People on Dakota Avenue were clapping, playing music, signing and acting drunk.

Saturday, Aug. 10

3:13 p.m. A man with a beard and wearing a fishing hat was seen carrying a large shotgun and pistol while hitchhiking along East Lakeshore Drive. The man was camping at a small lake in the area and didn’t want to leave his firearms at camp while he walked to town.

10:56 p.m. Canadians were tossed from a bar after fighting.

Sunday, Aug. 11

3:06 a.m. Report of transients who broke a window and tipped over a trash can on Central Avenue.

3:27 a.m. A woman was heard screaming for help in Miles Avenue.

3:10 p.m. An unlocked bike was stolen from Central Avenue.

7:47 p.m. Report of a child who was bit by a small black dog on Columbia.
