A Ferndale man has been arrested after breaking into his neighbor’s home last Friday night.

Jared Ondara, 41, was arrested on charges of criminal mischief, burglary, aggravated assault, criminal trespass, obstructing a peace officer and disorderly conduct after smashing a glass door and entering the home of a neighbor on Rising Wolf Drive in Ferndale.

Lake County Undersheriff Dan Yonkin said alcohol was a clear factor in the case.

Ondara has been involved in a continuing dispute with his neighbor, the victim in the break-in, over his dogs.

Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the street on Wednesday evening, Yonkin said. The two parties involved in the break-in were screaming at each other in the middle of the street. Allegedly Ondara’s dogs were a problem for the other man, and he had posted signs telling Ondara to keep his dog in check, Yonkin said.

He was cited for those offenses, Yonkin said of the man who posted the signs. At 8:30 p.m. Friday, it is believed a heavily-intoxicated Ondara broke through a glass door in his neighbors house and began trashing the place.

Yonkin, who said the reports are not finalized yet, believed it did not turn physical, but did not know what precipitated the aggravated assault charge.

Ondara was arrested and earned himself additional charges after allegedly twice trying to kick out the windows of the cruiser he was being transported in.
