Man identified in Hwy 40 fatal crash

A 51-year-old Columbia Falls man died in a one-vehicle crash around 2:40 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, Gregory Weimer was alone in an eastbound vehicle on Highway 40 approaching the intersection with U.S. 2 when the vehicle drifted to the right side of the roadway, jumped the curb and ran into a light pole.

The vehicle reportedly continued across the intersection and struck a second light pole. Weimer, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The crash is under investigation by the Montana Highway Patrol.
