Wolf concerns

| April 16, 2013 3:53 PM

Congratulations Brian Peck for your astute observations in the April 10 issue of the Hungry Horse News about the lack of forethought of the Montana Legislature.

House Bill 73 makes it very easy for us to decimate wolves. It may be necessary to put them again on the endangered species list.

Many wildlife biologists see them as keystone predator that is essential to our environment. They were purposely introduced them into Yellowstone, and we have been spending millions of dollars in wolf research.

Most people in this country see wolves as an icon of wilderness. Their howls invoke a spirit of the mystery of life itself.

I, like most Americans, feel horror when I contemplate the wolf, a beautiful intelligent animal in horrendous pain, caught in a big iron trap in the snow chewing off his paw or waiting to be killed.  We are all interconnected.
