William Engle

William “Bill” LaPierre Engle, 74 of Kalispell, died Dec. 29, 2012, surrounded by family at the home of his daughter near Gillette, Wyo.

Bill was born Feb. 20, 1938, in Glendive. At age 17, Bill joined the Montana National Guard, serving nine years. He married Irene Tuhy in 1958, in Glendive.

Bill is survived by his wife Irene; son Jeffrey and wife Maryln, of Biddle; daughters Lisa Engle and husband Chuck Knuppel, of Columbia Falls, Theresa Burley and husband Mitch, of Gillette, Wyo., Melissa Lewis and husband Paul, of Eatonville, Wash., and Vanessa Smitko and husband Kurtis, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; mother Rose Vaage, of Kalispell; uncle L.K. Engle and wife Hazel, of Ainsworth, Neb.; sisters-in-law Helen and Shirley; 12 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and his favorite “hound,” Cuddles.

Memorial services will be held at the Church of the Nazarene, 1295 Whitefish Stage Road, on Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m.. Scattering of his ashes will take place at the Reisland Ranch in Belle Creek this summer.

Memorials may be sent in Bill’s name to a charity of choice.
