The Columbia Falls football team had a tough time against the Pirates in Polson last week, losing 35-0 in the Sept. 21 showdown.

The Wildcats were not without their chances. In the second quarter, Polson was up 14-0, when Jared Trinastich connected with Zach Darling on a deep pass. One official called it a touchdown, but the other said Darling went out at the three-yard line. They conferred and the ball was put on the three.

The Cats’ drive stalled from there, and they missed a field goal. Polson then drove down the length of the field and scored another touchdown with 40 seconds in the half to make it 21-0.

The Pirates are a good team — they’re ranked fourth in the state. Polson had 277 yards rushing for the night. The Cats didn’t run the ball well, but they did have 20 completions on 37 attempts for 178 yards. The team is now 2-2 overall and will look to bounce back this Friday against Livingston’s Park County High School for homecoming.
