Bruce Weir and Barbara Weir

Bruce Weir and Barbara Krall Weir passed away this summer.

Bruce Weir, 96, died July 17, 2012. He was born Jan. 24, 1916, in Bowman, N.D., to Richard and Mary (Higgins) Weir. He served as an aviation engineer in the Army in World War II and graduated from college in 1946 in Aberdeen, S.D.

Barbara, 99, passed away Aug. 6, 2012. She was born Nov. 26, 1912, in Dover to Joseph and Mary (Kolar) Krall. She graduated from Fergus County High School and from Montana State University in Missoula.

Bruce and Barbara were married Aug. 12, 1947, in Columbia Falls. They were teachers at the time and built their first home, a cabin, in Hungry Horse.

After several years of teaching in Montana and Idaho, they moved to Redmond, Wash., where Bruce pursued a career as a highway engineer and Barbara was a social worker in the Seattle area. They joined the Peace Corps, serving in Monrovia, Liberia and West Africa.

They are survived by Barbara’s sister, Louise Coan, of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Loretta KraIl, of Reno, Nev.; and many nieces and nephews.
