Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has opened online registration for wolf trapper certification classes across Northwest Montana. Certification is required in order to use a wolf license to trap wolves.

Montana’s first wolf trapping season will open Dec. 15 and run through Feb. 28. Trapping licenses are on sale now and cost $20 for residents and $250 for nonresidents. Students must attend the entire class session to be certified.

Wolf trapping classes will be held locally at the Flathead County Fairgrounds in Kalispell on Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 4 to 10 p.m.; on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

People interested in taking the class must register online at http://fwp.mt.gov by clicking on “Wolf Trapping Education” or online at http://tinyurl.com/wolftrapping.
