The Lady Bulldogs split a pair of games on the road last weekend, losing a tight match 2-1 at Park High before edging Belgrade 3-1.

At Livingston, the Lady Rangers caught Whitefish’s defense on their heels and tallied in the first minute. The Lady Dogs quickly countered with a goal from Megan Danczyk to tie it up at the half.

The teams traded scores in the second half, but an own-goal by Whitefish put the Lady Rangers in front at the final whistle.

“Park is tough and competitive and athletic and came out ready to play,” Whitefish coach Wendy Farrens said. “We just weren’t able to finish our last couple of chances.”

The following day Whitefish bounced back with a hard-fought win at Belgrade.

Freshman Sara Craven tallied in the 9th minute as Whitefish took a 1-0 lead into the break.

Craven found the net again in the 44th minute off an assist from Danczyk to give them a two goal advantage. After a Belgrade goal in the 53rd, Danczyk hit the net in the 61st to seal the victory.

“The girls showed great character and resilience and were able to refocus,” Farrens said. “It’s good to have that last win to carry momentum into the conference games coming up.”

Farrens commended Danczyk for stepping up as senior captain and rallying the team for Saturday’s win.

Whitefish is now 4-1 on the season. They host Bigfork on Thursday and Polson on Saturday.
