Hospital philosophy

The patient’s needs come first — every time. That’s the philosophy instilled at North Valley Hospital 10 years ago when it joined the Planetree network of hospitals. Next month, NVH will celebrate their 10th year of following the beliefs set forth by Planetree with a community festival at the hospital on Highway 40 on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 3 to 7 p.m. There will be food provided by the Valley Cafe, live music, raffle prizes, tours of the hospital, massage therapy, pet therapy dogs, da Vinci robot demonstrations, and displays on the hospital's Birth Center, Foundation, Womens and Men's Health and healing arts.

Chamber

The Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their general membership meeting at the North Valley Hospital Community Room, 235 Nucleus Avenue, on Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. A talk on North Valley Hospital’s celebration of 10 years of Planetree management will be presented. Boy Scouts

Columbia Falls Boy Scout Troop 1941 is looking for new members. They’ll be recruiting boys in sixth grade and up interested in outdoor adventures at their big wall tent during the Thursday, Sept. 6, Columbia Falls Farmers Market. They’ll also be serving free Dutch Oven Cobbler.

Tractor show

The Northwest Antique Power Association will hold its annual antique engine, tractor show and threshing bee at the Olsen Pioneer Memorial Park on Helena Flats Road on Sept. 7-9. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday with limited displays. It will kick into a full show Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show features dozens of old tractors, engines and farm equipment from years gone past, as well as live demonstrations, train rides for kids and food.

IONS meet

The local Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) community group will host a free public talk by C. James Jensen about his new book, “Beyond the power of your subconscious mind,” at the Bohemian Grange, directly west of Montana Coffee Traders on U.S. 93, on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. For more information, call 862-9591 or 862-7711.

Garage sale

The Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 15th annual garage sale at the former Klean Kars site on the U.S. 2 strip on Friday, Sept. 28, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 8 a.m. to noon. Donated items can be dropped off on Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. Money raised will go to the Children’s Holiday Village display at Marantette Park, new banners and other community pride projects.
