Lois Yaeger

Lois Marie Wilson Sands Yaeger, 82, passed away Oct. 19, 2012, peacefully at her home surrounded by family.

She was born Nov. 28, 1929, in St. Paul, Minn. She traveled by the Empire Builder train to a summer job as a maid at Lake McDonald Lodge in 1949, meeting and marrying her husband William Sands. They raised their three children at Nyack. After the death of her husband, she moved to Kalispell and met and married Harold Yaeger.

Lois was a longtime member of Chief Ignace Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution, a Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by sister Meredith Wilson, of South St. Paul; sons William Sands and wife Marion, of Alaska, and Thomas Sands and wife Reta, of Kalispell; daughter Kay McDonald, of Columbia Falls; stepchildren Roger Yaeger and wife Linda, of Phoenix, Kathy Bolme and husband Craig, of Elmo, and Richard Yaeger, of Bellevue, Wash.; five grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren; 12 step-great grandchildren; and numerous friends and relatives.

Services were held Oct. 23, 2012, at Austin Funeral Home, in Whitefish. Gravesite services followed at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
