I am Tim Baldwin, Republican candidate for House District 4. As we approach Election Day, I want to share with you some insight about me and how I will approach issues as one of Montana’s lawmakers.

First, I have no personal or party agenda. I am independent minded. I make decisions based on reason and results. I am not afraid to oppose a person or party when it is right; I already do. If there was one thing I heard repeatedly while knocking on hundreds of doors, it was this: people are tired of impure party politics. I am too.

Second, I believe it is crucial to seek common sense and long-term solutions to our economic problems. Montanans shouldn’t have to move to North Dakota to find suitable employment. Montanans shouldn’t lose their homes because they are unable to pay burdensome property taxes. We can and should create prosperity in Montana, for Montanans. Less taxes, controlled spending, and greater job opportunities are necessary to move Montana forward.

Third, personal liberty and responsibility are essential to a free society; and a strong, unified society is essential to individual liberty. The balance between these competing interests is the genius of our democratic republic, and our Constitution protects both. I will view every bill in light of our Constitution and seek to strengthen both the individual and society.

Lastly, I absolutely love the beauty and grandeur of Montana and the Flathead. So, as I support natural resource development to improve our economy, education, and government, I also want to protect our environment and its beauty for generations. I will use a responsible and balanced approach to this issue.

During this campaign, I have been privileged to meet and interact with so many wonderful people in and around Whitefish. It will be my honor to represent House District 4 in Helena in the 2013 session. I humbly ask for your vote Nov. 6.
