CROP walk

| October 22, 2012 9:15 AM

The 2012 Columbia Falls CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) walk has gone over the established goal. With some money yet to be collected, Mary Kay Sinclair reported that walkers and donors have raised $5,200.

The walk committee set a goal of $5,000. Of the money raised, 25 percent goes to the local food pantry, which this year will be at least $1,300.

Walkers ranged from the very young to elders 75 years and older. More youths participated this year, and many families walked together for the event on Sunday, Oct. 14. Because the regular headquarters, Discovery Center, is closed, a new walk headquarters was located. I was very glad when the Senior Citizens Center donated the use of their facilities. Walkers representing local churches, schools and community groups participated.

On behalf of the CROP WALK committee, Mary Kay Sinclair, Louann Mohr and Nancy Flint, I thank all in the community who “stepped out” to support our efforts this year. Thank you Columbia Falls.
