Duywane Gardner

Duywane Doyle Gardner, 61, of Columbia Falls, passed away Oct. 9, 2012, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Duywane was born Aug. 16, 1951, in Whitefish to Bella and Albert Gardner, of Columbia Falls. He graduated from Columbia Falls High School with the Class of 1969. During his high school years, he was a member of the National Honor Society, Columbians, Thespians and the Math and Ski clubs. He attended Montana State University.

Throughout his life, Duywane enjoyed listening to good music, boating, bowling, golfing and snowmobiling, as well as camping, hiking and floating McDonald Creek in Glacier National Park with friends and family. 

Duywane and Janine Marie Christenson were married in St. Richard’s Catholic Church on Aug. 23, 1975. After working for Plum Creek for five years, he and Janine moved to Cloverdale, Calif., to work for Dresser Industries Inc. as an air equipment operator. They moved back to Columbia Falls in November 1978, where Duywane returned to Plum Creek, retiring from there in July 2011.

As a family, Duywane and Janine and their children Devon and Darren had many adventures vacationing throughout the mid and western states, touring the Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion national parks, Carlsbad Caverns, Mount Rushmore, Mount St. Helens, Mall of America, Great Lakes, Roswell, N.M., Disneyland, Sea World, Universal Studios and the beautiful state of Hawaii.

Many a special moment for Duywane was spent reminiscing past memories with friends and family members.   

Duywane was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Bella Gardner.

He is survived by his wife Janine; daughter Devon Forney and husband Adam, of Spokane Valley, Wash.; son Darren Gardner, of Seattle; brothers Alfred Gardner and wife Cherie, of Columbia Falls, Arson Gardner and wife Veronica, of Libby, and Emil Gardner and wife Bobbi, of Cloverdale, Calif.; grandson Connor Forney, of Spokane Valley, Wash.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Richard’s Catholic Church in Columbia Falls on Friday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m., with a reception following at the parish center. Burial will take place at St. Richard’s Catholic Cemetery after the reception.
