Whitefish Thunder

We are the mothers of two special needs adults in Whitefish, Cedar Vance and Arthur Madeira.  The Special Olympics is a highlight for them year round with skiing in the winter, horseback riding, track, biking and bowling in the spring/summer, and basketball in the fall.

Our local team, Whitefish Team Thunder, is sponsored by the Whitefish Rotary, who has provided leadership, coaching, and team clothes and an enthusiasm for our athletes that is heartwarming and a huge gift to participant’s families.

We are writing this letter because we want to raise awareness of how grateful the participants of Whitefish Team Thunder and their families are to receive such phenomenal local support for this program from many volunteers — coaches, spectators, both for your enthusiasm and financial support.

We hope it is clear how important your support is to the participants of Whitefish Team Thunder and their families. If you could see Cedar’s wall of medals or hear Arthur enthusiastically call out “Special Olympics! Basketball! Skiing! Medals! Dinner! Dance!” You would understand. As adults with developmental disabilities, this is the only programmed activity available for them to participate in.

We welcome new team members to join our team.

Thank you all for your enthusiastic support of our team’s recent accomplishments at the Montana State Special Olympic Games where they won their division and every player scored at least two baskets.

Thank you for your support and consider going to our Facebook page Whitefish Thunder Special Olympics Team and clicking on like to view photos, videos and to receive notice of current activities and accomplishments. We would love to have you come watch our events or join us in our practices.
