Jacque A. Wolfe

Jacque A. Wolfe, 74, formerly of Whitefish and Kalispell, passed away Oct. 18, 2012 from cancer in Salt Lake City where he had resided for more than 20 years.

Jacque was born in Whitefish on Sept. 24, 1938 to Guy Leland and Ruby Wolfe. He graduated from Whitefish High School and received a bachelor’s from the University of Montana, majoring in accounting, working in that field until his retirement a few years ago. He married Millie Newbury in 1958 and served in the U.S. Army for four years at Ankara, Turkey and Ft. Lewis Wash.

Jacque is survived by a son, Jacque (Douglas) Wolfe of Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Lori Anne Wolfe Bennett, of Denver; a granddaughter, Ashleigh Anne Bennett and a grandson, Nicklaus Bennett, both of Denver; several cousins in the Whitefish area, including Jerry Wolfe, Darlene Wolfe, Judy Shelton Brown, and many friends in the Flathead Valley, Salt Lake City, Utah, and around the world.

Besides his love for his family, Jacque loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Utah Lepidopterists’ Society and The National Lepidopterists’ Society.

He was very active with the collection and rearing of butterflies that were endangered species; he exchanged butterfly specimens with other collectors across the nation and other countries, his furnishing friends with eggs and caterpillars for rearing and photography will be greatly missed, as will he. Jacque donated his extensive collection to the Natural History Museum of Utah in Salt Lake City and can be viewed there.

A memorial celebration of Jacque’s life has been held in Salt Lake City at the Natural History Museum of Utah.
