| May 30, 2012 2:07 PM

Marie Therese Ohaneson, age 94, passed away on Thursday April 26 at Lakeview Care Center. Marie was born on May 22, 1917 in Liege, Belgium, the fourth child of Edouard and Germaine Schroeder.

Nicknamed “Memee,” she became “Mimi” to her English-speaking friends, and “Mrs. O” to those who cared for her. She was married and widowed three times, and raised two boys: Jean-Jacques, born in 1939, and Gerard, born in 1943. Over the years she lived in many countries of Western Europe and the United States and became multi-lingual.

Her last husband, Edward Ohaneson was the love of her life for over 30 years, until his death from Alzheimer’s in 1999. She then started to fade, taking simple pleasures out of life, and finally died of Alzheimer’s herself, on April 26, just short of her 95th birthday, in Bigfork.

Mimi is preceded in death by her grandson Philip. She is survived by her two sons Jean-Jacques and Gerard and wife Laura P. d’Aquin; her granddaughter, Alexandra; her stepchildren Christine Kent, Edward David Ohaneson, Michael Peters Ohaneson, and eight step-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mimi will be held at Lakeview Care Center on May 30, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to NWM Humane Society P.O. Box 221 Kalispell MT 59903.

Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
