Kids quilting

The Columbia Falls Teakettle Quilt Guild will offer a Kids Quilting Class for ages 10-14 on Monday through Thursday, June 11-14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The class will be held in the Columbia Falls High School home economics classroom. Cost is $15, with all materials provided. Sign-up forms are at the public library.

Chamber social

The Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours social event will take place at Angie’s Greenhouse, on the U.S. 2 strip in Columbia Falls, on Thursday, June 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with door prizes and snacks.

Astronomy club

The Big Sky Astronomy Club will make their telescopes available for the enjoyment of the general public at the Flathead Valley Community College on Tuesday, June 5, as Venus passes between Earth and the Sun for the last time this century. Club president Mark Paulson will give a presentation at 2:30 p.m. The transit will begin at 4:05 p.m. and will be in progress as the Sun sets at 9:35 p.m. The astronomy club will host events at Lone Pine State Park on July 14 and Logan Pass in Glacier National Park on July 20 and Aug. 17.

Senior center garage sale

The North Valley Senior Center, on Nucleus Avenue, will hold a garage sale on Friday and Saturday, June 15-16, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items for sale will include furniture, snowblowers, small household appliances, picture frames, clothing and much more.

Canyon trail fundraiser

Gateway to Glacier Trail will hold a community yard sale fundraiser at 474 C Street, in Columbia Falls, on Saturday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will be donated to the Gateway to Glacier Trail organization’s effort to build a separated and paved bike/pedestrian path along U.S. 2 from Coram to West Glacier. Donations will be accepted by calling 892-2011. Items can be dropped off on Friday, June 1, or on Saturday after 7 a.m.

Spay & Neuter fundraiser

Flathead Spay & Neuter Task Force will hold an indoor garage sale on Saturday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at their clinic. Donations of high-end sporting goods, hundreds of DVDs and books, dinnerware, antiques and new and used pet-related items will be sold. Proceeds will be used to replace flooring in their cat adoption center. Drop off items at Northwind Shirt Company, 215 Central Avenue, in Whitefish. The clinic is located at 3491 Trumble Creek Road, one mile west of U.S. 2, two miles south of Highway 40, just south of the intersection of Hodgson Road. For more information, call 892-7387.
