The annual Fourth of July fireworks display at City Beach should be equally as impressive as last year’s show. The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce is only a few thousand dollars short of their fundraising goal of $15,000, matching last year’s total.

“The community has been very supportive of the event,” Whitefish Chamber of Commerce executive director Kevin Gartland said. “Fundraising is going well and we expect to hit our target.”

The chamber has sponsored the fireworks show for the past three years.

Gartland notes that a group of anonymous residents often picks up half the tab for the show. Other money is contributed from local businesses and residents.

“It always comes down to money,” Gartland said. “It doesn’t take long to blow $15,000 into the sky on the Fourth of July, but it sure is fun.”

The fireworks display is slated for 10:15 p.m. or whenever it gets dark.
