Fireworks should be restricted in Bigfork

The Fourth of July fireworks began in Bigfork on June 26 and didn’t end until July 8.

(At least I hope it has ended.)

Not just firecrackers and colorful displays were run and heard, but aeriel bombers were exploded every night between 10 and 12 p.m. Since many of us live on hillsides, these bombs exploded 30-50 yards away from our decks or lawn areas.

Needless to say our pets were terrified and I was deafened by the explosions.

I am going to ask our county commissioners to impose restrictions related to fireworks.

First, aeriel bombs should be banned in all residential areas of the county.

Second, fireworks should be restricted to July 3-5 and New Years Eve.

Other communities in the County actually ban fireworks within city limits.  Bigfork is unincorporated, but we still have some densely populated residential areas.  As a resident of the county, I expect that my privacy and personal well-being should be respected.  Frankly, this past two weeks has been very trying and anything but a relaxing and fun way to celebrate the Fourth of July.
