Christmas Cantatas

• Bethany Lutheran Church’s choir will perform the cantata “Heaven’s Child” by Pepper Choplin on Dec. 9 at 9:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8559 Montana 35, Bigfork. Cost is free for all.

• First Baptist Church of Bigfork is putting on a free Christmas cantata, “The Birth of the King,” on Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. For more information call 755-1891. First Baptist Church of Bigfork is located at 6933 Montana 35.

CASA Christmas Concert

A “Spirit of Christmas” concert will be held on on Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Glacier High School Performance Hall to raise funds for Voices for CASA and Flathead Valley food banks.

Penni Chisholm and Sandee Sauer will host an evening of musical offerings while raising money and awareness of the plight of abused and neglected children in our community.

All concert patrons are asked to bring non-perishable food to donate to the Flathead Valley food banks.

Tickets can be purchased at Glacier Bank in Bigfork, Whitefish, Kalispell and Columbia Falls, The Toggery in Kalispell and Whitefish, Freedom Bank in Columbia Falls, Laurie’s Deli in Columbia Falls and Colter Coffee in Kalispell.

Windows 7 Class

A class on how to navigate Windows 7 will be offered at the Bigfork Library on Dec. 6 from 10-11 a.m. Participants will have hands-on training in using folders, files, and personalizing their computer.

Landscape Raffle for BHS senior class

Bigfork High School senior class is raffling off a $5,000 Extreme Landscape Makeover. Cost is $20 per ticket or six tickets for $100 and only 750 tickets will be sold. Tickets can be purchased from any BHS senior. The raffle drawing will be held April 16, 2013 and landscape work will be done May 18, 2013.

Football Awards

Bigfork High School football team’s awards ceremony will be held Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Bigfork Junior High cafeteria.

Football players and their families, coaching staff and everyone who helped out with football during the season, including community members, are invited to attend. Dessert and coffee will be served.

Backcountry Horsemen

The Backcountry Horsemen of Flathead County will meet Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fish, Wildlife, and Parks building at 460 North Meridian Road, Kalispell.

Backcountry Horsemen is a volunteer organization dedicated to protecting stockowner’s use of wilderness and backcountry trails, educating horse owners on leave-no-trace principals and supporting backcountry agencies.

School grant competition

Votes are being taken now through Dec. 19 for Swan River School to win up to $50,000 for a mobile iPad lab through the Clorox company’s Power a Bright Future grant contest. Community Garden Workshop

The Bigfork/Ferndale Community Garden will present its first winter workshop Saturday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m.

Master gardener MonaRae Tuhy will present “Growing Your Own Microgreens.”

Sign-ups for next year’s plots will be accepted.

The workship will be held at St. Patrick’s Church on Montana 209 near the Ferndale Fire Department.

Sliter Park Memorial Project

The Community Foundation for a Better Bigfork is taking orders for bricks for the Sliter Park Memorial Project. The 4-by-8-inch bricks allow for two lines of text consisting of 16 characters, including spaces and periods. Bricks are $50 each, but additional bricks are $40 each after ordering two or more. Wounded Warriors Fundraiser

Homestead Café in Lakeside is having a fundraiser for the Montana Wounded Warriors on Dec. 7 from 5-10 p.m.

Proceeds from an apron raffle and gratuities will go toward the Montana Wounded Warriors Project along with portions of the proceeds from meal sales.
