Booster BBQ

The Columbia Falls Booster Club will hold its annual Homecoming Tailgate BBQ on Friday, Sept. 23, starting at 5:30 p.m. The cost will be $5.

Free meals

The Columbia Falls Community Kitchen will offer four nights of free, nutritious meals in the basement of St. Richard's Catholic Church from Sept. 27 through 30 at 6 p.m.

Weatherization kits

NorthWestern Energy will provide free weatherization kits to qualifying natural gas customers at Glacier Discovery Square on Friday, Sept. 23, from 3-7 p.m. The focus is on customers whose doors and single-pane windows have noticeable air leaks. In the past, customers have received plastic sheeting to cover windows, cans of spray foam, shower heads and weather stripping. Deer Park

Economic input

The Flathead County Economic Development Authority and Montana West Economic Development Corporation will hold public input sessions around the valley for a five-year economic development planning strategy. Written input is desired and can be e-mailed to info@dobusinessinmontana.com by Oct. 11. The first input session will take place in the Columbia Falls City Council Chambers on Monday, Sept. 26, from 8-9 a.m.

Garage sale

The 14th annual Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce garage sale will take place at the former Klean Kars on the U.S. 2 strip on Friday, Sept. 30, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. to noon. Pick-up service is available for donated goods; No clothing. FVCC dinner

A "Farm To Table" dinner at the Three Forks Grille on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. will be a fundraiser for Flathead Valley Community College as part of its Festival Of Flavors event. Wolf talk

Cristina Eisenberg, research director, conservation biologist and author of "The Wolf's Tooth," will present a talk on wolves at the Montana House in Glacier National Park's Apgar Village ono Saturday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. Eisenberg has been studying the relationship of wolves, elk and aspen in Glacier and Waterton Lakes national parks and in Colorado to see how this relationship affects whole ecosystems. Fashion show

The Columbia Falls Women's Connection will meet for lunch at the Teakettle Community Hall, 235 Nucleus Avenue, on Wednesday Sept. 21, at 11:30 a.m. Sue Gust with kikiPaprika will give a fashion show, and Kelly Banzet will show her line of fashion jewelry. Court closed

The Columbia Falls City Court will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 28-29, so that staff may attend the MJC and MCCA Clerks Association Conference in Kalispell. Normal court hours will resume on Monday, Oct. 3.

Genealogy

The Montana State Genealogical Society will host their annual conference at the Hilton Garden Inn, in Kalispell, on Sept. 22-24. The conference is open to the public with a registration deadline of Sept. 16. National speaker Thomas Jones will deliver four lectures. Other speakers include Northwest Montana Historical Society and Museum executive director Gil Jordan, local author John Fraley, Chris Ehrman and Tina Kirkham of the Montana Historical Society and Shirley Penna-Oakes of the Eastern Washington Genealogical Society. A St. Francis Day Blessing of the Pets will take place at the All Saints Episcopal Church, on Conn Road, off Highway 40 between Whitefish and Columbia Falls, on Saturday, Oct. 1, at noon. Pets must be on leashes or in cages.

The Friends of Flathead County Libraries will hold a book sale at the Kalispell Center Mall on Sept. 23, 24 and 25 starting at 10 a.m. on the 23rd and 24th and 11 a.m. on the 25th.
