Spikers split at Tip-Off Tourney

The Columbia Falls volleyball team had some success at the Northwest-Southwest A Tip-Off tourney on Sept. 9-10 in Hamilton. The Wildkats placed first among Northwest A teams, tied with Polson and Whitefish at 6-6.

On the opening day, the girls tied Corvallis 17-25, 25-23, beat Dillon 29-27, 25-22 and tied Stevensville 25-21, 15-25. The ‘Kats also beat Anaconda 25-22.

Each team played an opponent in two games. A tie was considered a split.

The girls had a tougher time against Butte Central, losing 25-22, 25-21, and against Hamilton, losing 26-24, 25-16.

In the placing round, the ‘Kats were knocked off by Butte Central 25-19, 25-23. Hamilton, which went 11-1 and took first place among Southwestern A teams, was the overall tournament winner.

The ‘Kats play Polson at home Thursday night and then travel to the Bonners Ferry, Idaho, tournament Saturday.
