Fair winners

In late-arriving Northwest Montana Fair news, Nicolas Ream, of Columbia Falls, was the Junior Champion, Obstacle, for the Mini Horses - 4-H division. Jessica Ream, of Columbia Falls, was the Reserve Champion, Senior Showman, Mini Horse, for the Mini Horses - 4-H division.

Harvest dinner

The North Valley Senior Center on Nucleus Avenue will hold its Fall Harvest Round-up barbecue and fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 3-6 p.m. They will serve pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, bratwurst, hot dogs and more. For more information, call 892-4087.

Garage sale

The 14th annual Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce garage sale will take place at the former Klean Kars on the U.S. 2 strip on Friday, Sept. 30, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. to noon. Pick-up service is available for donated goods; No clothing. Fashion show

The Columbia Falls Women's Connection will meet for lunch at the Tea Kettle Community Hall, 235 Nucleus Avenue, on Wednesday Sept. 21, at 11:30 a.m. Sue Gust with kikiPaprika will give a fashion show, and Kelly Banzet will show her line of fashion jewelry. Court closed

The Columbia Falls City Court will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 28-29, so that staff may attend the MJC and MCCA Clerks Association Conference in Kalispell. Normal court hours will resume on Monday, Oct. 3.

Fall gala

The Glacier Institute will hold its fall gala to support youth education at the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center at the Flathead Valley Community College's Arts and Technology Building on Friday, Sept. 16, from 6-9 p.m. with dinner, craft beers, entertainment and silent and live auctions. Genealogy

The Montana State Genealogical Society will host their annual conference at the Hilton Garden Inn, in Kalispell, on Sept. 22-24. The conference is open to the public with a registration deadline of Sept. 16. National speaker Thomas Jones will deliver four lectures. Other speakers include Northwest Montana Historical Society and Museum executive director Gil Jordan, local author John Fraley, Chris Ehrman and Tina Kirkham of the Montana Historical Society and Shirley Penna-Oakes of the Eastern Washington Genealogical Society.
