Horsemen meet

The Back Country Horsemen of the Flathead will hold its regular monthly meeting in the Fish, Wildlife and Parks building, 490 North Meridian Road, in Kalispell, on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. The volunteer organization is dedicated to protecting stockowners' use of wilderness and backcountry trails, education of horse owners on Leave-No-Trace principles and support to back country agencies. Wildland films

The Flathead-Kootenai Chapter of the Montana Wilderness Association will host its annual film festival and fundraiser, bringing the Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival to the Flathead Valley. There will be a showing at the O'Shaughnessy Center, in Whitefish, on Friday, Oct. 21, with doors opening at 6 p.m., and a matinee at the Glacier Discovery Center, in Columbia Falls, on Sunday, Oct. 23, with doors opening at 1 p.m. Films will range in length and topic but focus on wildland conservation. Tickets are $10 available at Montana Coffee Traders in Columbia Falls.

Global warming

Flathead Audubon will host a talk on climate change during their Monday, Oct. 10, general membership meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in the The Summit's Community Room. Eric Grimsrud, an emeritus professor of chemistry at Montana State University-Bozeman who lives near Kalispell, will talk about "The Consensus Scientific View of Global Warming."
