Smith's Food & Drug will display a "Bringing Hope to the Table" holiday tree through Dec. 31 so customers can assist the needy during the holiday season.

Customers can select ornaments representing various levels of cash donations and present them to a Smith's checker to add to their grocery order.

Choices include $3 to support food-filled backpacks given to feed children over weekends; $7 for holiday meal fixings or other most-needed items; and $15 for a turkey or ham. Donations will be given to the local food bank the week before Thanksgiving, the week before Christmas and the week of Jan. 8.

Last year, Smith's stores across the U.S. donated food for more than 2 million meals, most of which went to single women with children.
