'Occupy Whitefish'

| November 2, 2011 8:00 AM

I've been happy to read that local officials are rethinking a previous decision to remove the Jesus statue in memory of World War II veterans from the top of Big Mountain. There will be a forthcoming comment period where we can all participate.

We can show our support for Veterans and the Jesus statue on another important upcoming date: Nov. 11, Veterans Day.

Let's meet for an Occupy Whitefish event to show our support. It will begin at 11 a.m. on 11/11/11 from the veterans plaque near Don K and line up north on Highway 93 with flags and signs until 1 p.m.

Unlike other "occupy," events around the country, we will have a true mission statement: We support our veterans and keeping the Jesus memorial where it is on Big Mountain.

Don't bother bringing your tents or sleeping bags and don't expect a free hot lunch. Two hours of your time will mean a lot for support of these important local causes. Let's make it the beginning of a very vocal comment period to the U.S. Forest Service.
