Laurie Emmert

Laurie Melanie (Toavs) Emmert went to

be with the Lord on April 19, 2011.

Laurie was born in Kalispell on June 7,

1957, to Jim and Ava (Harder) Toavs. She was raised in Columbia

Falls and graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1975. She

married her high school sweetheart, Rod Emmert, from Columbia

Falls, on March 26, 1976.

She was a devoted Christian who raised

her two children in the admonition of the Lord. She loved being a

stay-at-home wife and mother with an impeccably clean house and

delicious five-course meals. No one was allowed to leave her house

hungry!

She was an incredibly talented woman

with many hobbies. She loved to cook, crotchet, sew, spend time

hunting, fishing, camping, rafting and gardening, playing with her

grandchildren, and singing with her husband. She was a joy to all

who were around her and always had an encouraging word for

others.

She was a selfless hard-working woman

who loved to serve others. She referred to herself as someone who

loved leather and lace, which depicted her personality; she loved

classy lacy dresses with frills as well as being a rugged outdoors

woman. She was a humble compassionate prayer warrior, as well as

what she referred to herself as “an angry mama bear.”

Laurie’s pride and joy was her family.

She was still madly in love with her husband at her passing and

loved spending time with her children, Micah (Teresa), Amber, and

her grandchildren, Wade, William, and Warren.

She lived a Proverbs 31 lifestyle that

has left a treasured legacy: “A wife of noble character who can

find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full

confidence in her and lacks nothing of value [. .] She gets up

while it is still dark; she provides food for her family [. .] She

sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks

[. .] She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the

needy [. . .] She is clothed with strength and dignity [. .] She

speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She

watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the

bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her

husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but

you surpass them all.” This is the legacy Laurie has left her

family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Rodney

Emmert, of Columbia Falls; son Micah Emmert and wife Teresa, of

Columbia Falls; daughter Amber Emmert, of Colorado Springs;

grandchildren Wade, William and Warren Emmert, of Columbia Falls;

parents James and Ava (Harder) Toavs, of Columbia Falls; and

siblings Katherine Choate and husband Jerry, of Sidney, Diane

Werner and husband Tim, of Crosby, N.D, and Michael Toavs, of

Glendive.

A memorial service will be held at New

Covenant Fellowship, 436 Birch Grove, in Kalispell, on Saturday,

May 28, 2011, at 2 p.m.

The family prefers memorials be made to

Heifer International.
