Emmerich is winner in school election recount

A ballot recount for the School District 6 board of trustees election resulted in the same winning candidates but with slightly different numbers. Three additional votes were tallied since the results were first announced.

The winners are Lyle Mitchell, with 681 votes, Dean Chisholm, 668, and Scott Emmerich, 585. The losing candidates are Dee Brown, with 581, Darrell Newby, 500, and Jenny Draband, 313.

Brown requested a recount because the difference between hers and Emmerich’s votes was less than 10. The recount increased the difference from three votes to four.

On May 9, the board re-appointed Jill Rocksund as chairperson and Chisholm as vice-chairperson.
