Whitefish won two important boys tennis

duals last week, topping Bigfork 4-3 and Polson 5-2 on April

26.

Coach Chris Schwaderer called the win

over conference foe Polson “a yardstick for where we are in the

conference.”

“I have a lot of respect for that

program,” he said. “They have good, skilled athletes.”

Schwaderer said the dual could have

gone either way, but at the tipping point the Bulldogs did the

little things it takes to close out a win.

“Earlier this season we had trouble

finishing and I felt like this was that moment where we did

finish,” he said. “It could have slipped away, but the kids stepped

up. It’s encouraging.”

Whitefish No. 1 singles player Jake

Morison led the team with an impressive 6-2, 6-4 win over Brady

Hislop.

“Brady is a good, fundamentally sound

player,” Schwaderer said. “Jake has a way of playing up to the

competition. He was really aggressive, but played relaxed and was

able to win convincingly.”

Camp Kenyon won at No. 2 singles while

brothers Skylar and Hans Munzing won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles,

respectively. In doubles play, The No. 2 team of Casey Beiser and

Logan Blades pulled out a tough 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win.

Over the weekend, Whitefish traveled

south to play duals with Hamilton, Corvallis and Havre on Friday

and in the Bitterroot Invitational on Sunday. Whitefish topped

Havre 2-1 in a shortened dual and lost to both defending Class A

champs Corvallis 1-6 and Hamilton 1-6.

“We played a ton of tennis,” Schwaderer

said.
