In his debut mixed martial arts bout, 19-year-old Columbia Falls fighter Jerrett Smith won a victory against Riley Hersey, 17, of Woodinville, Wash.

Smith, who wrestled for Columbia Falls High School, won by unanimous decision in the 135-pound weight class.

Michael Hader, another Columbia Falls fighter, didn't fare as well. Hader was knocked out by Brad Pather, of Yakima, Wash.

The fights were part of Ultimate Cage Wars, a mixed martial arts event held Saturday night at the Majestic Valley Arena.

The event pitted fighters from Montana and Washington state against each other and included both professional and amateur bouts. Hader and Smith were both competing as amateurs. Montana fighters won four of the seven bouts featured in the event.
