City sewer work started

The City of Whitefish has begun a five

to six week project to replace or rehabilitate underground sewer

mains throughout the city.

In some cases the sewer main is being

dug up and replace. This is being done on Woodland Place west of

Wisconsin Avenue.

While in others, the city will use a

Cured in Place Process or CIPP in which a resin liner is fed into

the sewer main through a manhole and then heated and adhered to the

underground pipe to seal out leaks without have to dig it up. The

CIPP projects began Monday and will be done in various locations

throughout the city over the next four weeks.

City crews will place an information

door hanger in advance of work in neighborhoods where the work will

take place. In some cases, the work may temporarily affect sewer

usage.
