Calling for a respectful election

| July 20, 2011 9:00 AM

Candidates have now filed for the

Whitefish mayoral position and three Council seats. It is our hope

that the misrepresentation of qualifications, position on issues

and personalities be curtailed.

We must elect our fellow citizens who

best represent our individual philosophies and show the greatest

concern for the future of Whitefish.

Some of the real issues that should be

the focus of our attention are: representation of doughnut

residents, a new cemetery, use of TIF funds, critical area

ordinance, city budget, among others.

Divisive, disrespectful, and inaccurate

information about opponents have no place in our community.

Whitefish elections should be about relevant issues and candidate

qualifications. Candidates, and their advocates, should not engage

in tactics that misguide voters and undermine the electoral

process.

Let’s stick with issues and the future

of this great place.
