Cats take second at home meet
The Columbia Falls swim team did well at its home meet last week, taking second to a Bitterroot team with 25 more swimmers in the water.
"The kids are doing great shaving seconds off their times," coach Mike Nelson said. "We're on a good track for state."
Cooper Babcock and Tyler Langton both took high-point honors in the boys 8-and-under group.
Danny Henjum was second in the 9-10 boys age group; Colton Babcock was second in the 11-12 boys; and Karyssa Nelson was second in the 11-12 girls. The youngsters took first in all of the 8-and-under events.
Nelson was also pleased with the efforts of other swimmers.
"Lexi Brunz swam the 400 free for the first time and took third. That was very impressive," Nelson said. "We also had excellent swims from newcomers Kaylee Kurkowski, Trey Rice and Kyler King."
The team travels to Chester this weekend.
