Zinke gets heavyweight win at Eureka

Wolf Zinke took home first place in the

heavyweight division at the annual Buzz Lucey Memorial Tournament

on Saturday in Eureka. His effort helped the Bulldogs earn 69 total

points in the 10-team tournament.

Zinke pinned Ben Gorham of Plains at

the 3:17 mark.

125-pounder Wyatt Price had a strong

tournament and finished in second place. James Bailey took fourth

in the 130-pound category.

Only 12 wrestlers made the trip to

Eureka due to injuries. Whitefish coach Ryan Boyle said the team

would have likely scored more points with a full roster. He noted

the team’s improved performance the week prior at Hamilton.

“The last two weekends were really good

for us,” Boyle said. “We have everything we need as far as skills

to win. We just need to polish some things up.”

Everybody on the team has earned at

least one win this season.

“Everybody looks really close to

breaking through,” Boyle said.

Whitefish wrestles at Libby on Dec. 22

at 6:30 p.m.

“I think we have some guys that could

get us some wins at Libby,” Boyle said.
