Fundraising for family struggling after house fire

A dinner and silent auction to benefit a family whose home on Middle Road was destroyed in a Nov. 15 fire will be held at Deer Park School on Friday, Dec. 9, from 4-7 p.m. Cost is $5 per person. Auction items can be dropped off at the school prior to the event.

Hayley Matthews and her two youngest children were able to escape from the early morning fire, but it claimed their rental home and most of their possessions.

Donations also are being accepted at Deer Park School, where two of Matthews' children attend school.

Jake Zakavec, the boyfriend of Matthews' oldest daughter, is coordinating donations and can be reached by calling 885-0464. Checks also can be mailed to Matthews' place of work at Home Town Movies, 1805 U.S. 93 South, Kalispell MT 59901.
