| August 24, 2011 8:52 AM

Cyril "Cy" Rehberger passed away at Prestige Assisted Living in Kalispell on Aug. 14, 2011, surrounded by his daughter and granddaughters.

Cy was born in St. Paul, Minn., on December 25, 1918. He was one of 12 children born to Stephen and Anna Rehberger. He met and married Ethel DeMars in 1943, and they moved to New Brighton, Minn., where they had their only child, JoAnn. Cy lived in New Brighton for 55 years, where he was a paint contractor.

He was a faithful usher and volunteer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for years. Cy loved camping, dancing, his CB radio, and tinkering in his workshop. He loved to find someone else's junk and make it into something usable and special. He could sniff out a bargain and always shared his "deals" with others.

Ethel passed away in 1989. Cy then married Cleo Padden in 1995. They enjoyed traveling and had a winter home in Ajo, Ariz. Cleo passed away in 2008, and Cy moved to Kalispell to be with his daughter and family in Kalispell. He loved his new friends at Prestige where he was known as a prankster and all-around fun guy.

Survivors include his daughter JoAnn Strait and husband Ken; granddaughter Jennifer Goins and husband Brian; granddaughter Kimberly vonOlhausen and husband Adam; and great grandchildren Brantley, Palmer and Gibson Goins and Gunnar vonOlhausen.

The family will have a private ceremony at their home to honor Cy and his legacy. Memorials are suggested to the Prestige Assisted Living, 125 Glenwood Drive, Kalispell MT 59901.
