Class schedules
High school class schedules will be available for pick up as follows - seniors, Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; juniors, Thursday, Aug. 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; sophomores, Friday Aug. 26, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and freshman, available at orientation on Aug. 26, at 6 p.m.
County library open house
The Flathead County Library System will hold an informational open house to discuss its strategic plan at Glacier Discovery Square in Columbia Falls on Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Join library staff and board members for light refreshments as they share their vision for the future and answer questions about library services in Flathead County. Booster BBQ
The Columbia Falls Booster Club will host its Blue & White barbecue fundraiser on Thursday, Aug. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. in front of the high school gym. The public is invited to attend this annual event.
Book sale
The Columbia Falls Library Association will hold a book sale at 490-12th Avenue WN on Friday, Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Columbia Falls Library.
GI geology
The Glacier Institute will offer a three-day course on " The Geology of Glacier National Park - A Walk Through Earth's History" taught by Jeff Kuhn on Aug. 26-28. The class is field-oriented and designed for those with a limited or advanced knowledge of geology. Participants will study in the Many Glacier area. Plant talk
Dawn LaFleur, an integrated pest management specialist at Glacier National Park, will be on hand to answer questions about nonnative, invasive plants during the farmers market at Discovery Square on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 6:30 p.m. She will give a short presentation on some of this area's most notorious plant invaders.
Crisis Linevolunteers
Violence Free Crisis Line is looking for new volunteers, men and women, who are seeking an opportunity to make a difference and touch someone's life.
The nonprofit organization has two programs dedicated to ending domestic violence - the 24-hour Crisis Line and its Children's Program.
Volunteers can take calls from the comfort of their own home or work directly with children who have witnessed domestic violence. Training will begin Sept. 1. For more information or to apply, call 752-4735.
