Food bank is low on food

The North Valley Food Bank is growing and is in need of help. When we started more than 30 years ago, we had three families. We now have 150 to 200 families a week. This includes deliveries to seniors and the home-bound.

Our food bank is rare because no wages are paid. We give food out weekly and pick up daily. This enables us to have extra perishables - milk, bread, etc.. - so we're able to share with the Salvation Army, Veterans Food Pantry, Eureka Senior Center, Browning on occasion, and other rural areas and non-profits. With help from Plum Creek's yearly donation, we're able and pleased to share with them. Nothing goes to waste at our food bank.

From time to time, we run short of essentials, and currently we're low on meat. We donated the family organ to the John Dalimata family at Nyack Flats in exchange for a much-needed cow. Our meat crew butchered, packaged and froze it. Pretty resourceful - what we don't do to keep going.

The Northwest Montana Fair is fast approaching. Please consider the food bank if you purchase animals. Our meat crew can process them for you if you wish to donate.
