Hearing on plan to be held today

A public hearing before the Flathead County Planning Board on the Lakeside Neighborhood Plan is scheduled for today, Sept. 15.

That meeting has been set for 6 p.m. on the second floor of the Earl Bennett Building in Kalispell. This will be a chance for residents to provide comment on the plan.

Following the hearing, the planning board will make a recommendation regarding the plan to the Flathead County Commissioners either at this meeting or a future meeting.

Copies of the plan as well as the Flathead County Planning and Zoning office's staff report are available at the office or online at http://flathead.mt.gov/planning_zoning/.

The Lakeside Community Council, which unanimously voted to send the plan on to the planning board in June, has been distributing a four-page summary of the 185-page plan document.The summary includes details on the history and purpose of the plan as well as key concepts and recommendations in the plan, principles used by the plan committee in developing land-use designations and the actual designations themselves.
