Wave Ryders win nine state titles

The Wave Ryder Swim Club took home nine state titles from the Montana Long Course State Championship Swim Meet July 30 - Aug 1 in Bozeman. The top swimmers in the state competed at the event.

Jamie Bouda, 10, of Kalispell, captured six state titles. He won first place in the boys 10 & under 50-meter freestyle, 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 50 butterfly, 200 IM; and second in the 200 freestyle. He earned qualifying times to the Western Zones meet in California.

Caroline Dye, of Whitefish, 8, earned three state titles in Bozeman. She took first place in the girls 8 & under 100 freestyle, 50 freestyle, and 50 butterfly. She also took home two silvers in the 50 breaststroke and the 50 backstroke.

Bubba Loyda, 9, of Kalispell, earned second in boys 10 & under 400 freestyle, third in 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly, fifth in 50 freestyle, and seventh in 200 IM.

Jessica Loyda, 11, of Kalispell, took home fourth in the 100 breaststroke, fifth in 200 freestyle, sixth in 400 freestyle, and eighth in 50 freestyle.

Joshua Loyda, 14, of Kalispell, placed second the 1500 freestyle, third in 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle, 200 IM and 50 freestyle, and fourth in 100 freestyle.

Jordan Loyda, 15, of Kalispell, earned second in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and third in the 800 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Jordan earned qualifying times for the Western Zones meet.
