James Collins

James Richard Collins, 74, passed away

at his Polson home Nov. 10, 2010.

He was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Boston,

the son of John and Elizabeth Collins. He attended Boston College

High School and received his bachelor’s in finance from Boston

College in 1958. He enlisted in the Army and served until his

honorable discharge in 1962.

Jim worked for General Motors and

Honeywell in Boston and Michigan during his career. His faith was

very important to him and was a devout, lifelong member of the

Catholic Church. He enjoyed sports, especially coaching youth

hockey and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents

and son James Collins, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Jean

Collins, of Polson; daughter Mary Kelly and husband Brian, of

Whitefish; sons, Kevin Collins and wife Christine, of Chicago, John

Collins, of Essex, and Michael Collins and wife Dina, of Chicago;

sister Mary King, of Arlington, Mass.; brother John Collins and

wife Carol, of Falmouth, Mass.; seven grandchildren; seven nieces

and nephews; and a multitude of grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated

at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Polson, on Nov.

18, 2010, with Father James Connor presiding. Interment with

military rites followed at Lakeview Cemetery, in Polson.
