Looking forward to sunny days

It was a nice surprise upon return from my honeymoon to find out that the Bigfork Eagle had garnered nearly 30 awards and recognitions from the Montana Newspaper Association's annual Better Newspaper Contest, including the prestigious Thomas Dimsdale Sweepstakes Award.

That was a perfect ending to our week on California's Central Coast. However, the rain that we watched on our return trip and that has continued in the Valley was not a welcomed homecoming.

In spite of all the wet weather we've been experiencing lately, somehow we managed to pick one of the seemingly very rare clear days for our wedding June 12 in Bigfork. And that was the talk of the day. Our guests, who came from Maryland, California, parts of Canada, and throughout the Pacific Northwest and the state, couldn't help but comment on their awe of the beauty of the Village and its setting and their intentions to return soon. On a clear, sunny day by the Lake, we couldn't blame them.

Since summer officially began Monday, we can only hope we start getting more like it.
