The Glacier Twins A club scored early and often against the Glacier Babe Ruth All-Stars at the Ed Gallo baseball tourney at Memorial Park on Saturday, taking the game 12-5 in a spirited battle.

The 15-year-old All-Stars struck first in the opening frame when a pickle wrapped up the ball at second base, allowing Logan Harwood to steal home.

The Twins bounced back easily though, racking up nine runs over the next two innings. Five players knocked RBIs in the nine-run stretch, including two from Michael Herbig.

Overall in the tourney, the Twins were 2-2, with wins against the All-Stars and the Prairie Pride.

"I thought we played all right for the amount of hours we were on the field," Twins coach Travis Krause said.

The team was at Memorial Park from 7 a.m. to nearly 11:30 p.m. every day, doing field maintenance when not playing games.

"Not to make excuses, but I think that caught up with us," Krause said.

He pointed to his solid pitching unit and good hitting up and down the lineup as positives to take from the weekend.

"They worked hard every game," Krause said. "There were 19 games in 2 1/2 days. To get that done is a success."

The All-Stars put up a good effort on the diamond, too, despite dropping each of their games in the tourney. They managed to hang around with a talented Wolf Point squad on Saturday, before testing the Twins in the following game. Cooper Olson, Peter Seymore and Jacob Slaybaugh each put together solid offensive performances.
