Amy Searles

Amy Grace Kalani Searles died July 19, 2010, as the result of an auto accident near East Glacier.

She was born Dec. 4, 1983, in Eureka to John Searles and Nancy Allan. She spent her younger years in Eureka before moving to Whitefish, where she graduated from Whitefish High School in 2002.

Amy Grace was very creative and enjoyed making jewelry and other artwork. She also loved dancing, hiking, biking, skiing and her job at Glacier National Park for the past two summers.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Jim Allan and grandparents Gene and Nancy Searles.

Amy Grace is survived by her mother Nancy Allan and step-father Kyle Ortman, of Whitefish; father John Searles, of Prescott, Ariz.; sister Vajra Beery and husband Carl, of Seattle; brothers Kasey and Nikolas Ortman, of Whitefish; grandmother Ruth Allan, of Vancouver, B.C.; grandparents John and Linda Ortman, of West Yellowstone; and numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A celebration of her life was held July 26, 2010, at Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish.

Mary Dalen

Mary Dyer Dalen, 88, of Franklin, W.Va., passed away July 14, 2010, at her home.

She was born March 22, 1922 at Baltimore, MD and was the daughter of the late Dr. Osceola Dyer and Myrtle Curry Dyer.

A 1940 graduate of Franklin High School and a 1944 graduate of Madison College, Mary taught school in the Pendleton County School System from 1966 to 1990.

She married Ole B. Dalen on May 6, 1946.

Mary was a member and elder of the Franklin Presbyterian Church, member of the South Branch Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, an avid skier and hiker, a ski instructor at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va., a swim instructor and a 4-H leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters Rebecca Browdy and Dorothy Wilkins; granddaughter Anne Kelch; and nephew James Wilkins.

Mary is survived by her daughter Andrea Larrivee, of New Zealand; son and daughter-in-law John and Mel Dalen, of Franklin; grandchildren Jonathan Larrivee, Emily Larrivee, Emma Dalen and Sara Dalen; four great grandsons; nieces and nephews Jacqueline Upp, Dorothy Miller and Jack Wilkins; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held July 17, 2010, at the Franklin Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Hovland and Rev. Kevin Hand officiating. Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, near Franklin.
