Shryock 16th in Ironman

Whitefish High School 2005 graduate Matt Shryock was 16th overall out of 2,262 competitors in the elite Ironman Coeur d'Alene triathlon June 27, finishing with a 9:23:32.

Shryock completed the 2.4-mile open water swim in Coeur d'Alene Lake in 1:06:37, 283rd overall. His bike time on the 112-mile course to Hayden Lake was 17th-best at 4:55:40, which is a pace of 22.7 mph. In the race's final leg, a marathon run of 26.2 miles through Coeur d'Alene, Shryock was 29th overall with a 3:17:35.

Andy Potts of Colorado Springs, Colo. won the race with a 8:24:40, and Linsey Corbin of Missoula posted the top time for women at 9:17:54.

Also of Whitefish, Rob Hagler was 170th overall with a 10:36:50. His times were 1:17:16 in the swim, 5:29:07 in the bike and 3:43:43 in the run. Savannah Matyas was 1,556 overall with a 14:25:26. Her times were 1:26:14 in the swim, 7:03:54 on the bike and 5:43:18 in the marathon.
