Great train ride

Last Saturday, I took a journey back in time on a train ride which brought me back to the days of the Great Northern Railway, 45 years ago when, as a youngster, I rode over the same route with my father, a Great Northern Railway conductor.

The Glacier National Park Centennial train ride from Whitefish to East Glacier and return aboard BNSF Railway's "Glacier Express' was beyond a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The day was perfect, the accommodations were splendid, the service was superior, the mood celebratory, the viewsinspiring and the company engaging.

I want to extend a hearty thank you to the Glacier Fund for organizing this event and to BNSF for their many outstanding contributions. Running a special train on such a busy day along the line is no small undertaking. All of the hard work by all those involved is very much appreciated.

Like those of 45 years ago, this was a trip I will not forget. Happy birthday to Glacier National Park.
