Cheers for Volunteers

Kay Lorenz, a self proclaimed “Montana gal,” was born in Billings, where she received her early education. In high school during the war years, she met Dick. After his military service and her stint at the University of Montana-Missoula, they married and later moved to Great Falls.

Kay found Whitefish through a friend who regularly suggested that this was a great place to establish a summer home. Kay in turn persistently made these suggestions to Dick, who finally suggested that she should come to Whitefish and buy a lot. She did just that, and thus began the series of steps leading toward the ultimate establishment of her permanent home in Whitefish.

Kay is proud of her son, a doctor in Atlanta, and her two grandchildren. Always busy at something, her life revolves around her home, family, church, women’s organizations and community service.

Although active in many things, Kay’s main efforts are directed to North Valley Hospital, where each week she volunteers at the pharmacy. She speaks highly of everyone at the hospital, saying, “I love it. I just think the hospital is the greatest thing that ever happened to our town. I just want to be a part of it.”

She finishes each session with the feeling of “a good job, well done,” knowing that in her own way, she has contributed to the well being of others. Co-workers describe her as one of the “classiest and nicest persons,” and say her dependability and attention to detail is invaluable to them.

Kay, we extend our thanks to your friend who urged you to come to Whitefish. You have been a positive influence on all who know you. Our community is better because of you, and we thank you.
