It may be the middle of January, but it sure hasn't felt like it. Our recent bout of above-freezing temperatures has encouraged some people to get out and enjoy winter sports, and there are plenty of opportunities for it even as the temperatures start to dip.

One of our closest ski locations, Blacktail Mountain Ski Area, will celebrate the season this weekend with Lakeside's annual Winterfest. The mountain will be full of festivities including the Family Cup Ski and Snowboard Races.

The Swan Rangers still head out every Saturday morning from the Echo Lake Cafe for a half-day excursion's around the area and always welcome newcomers.

Glacier National Park is offering free guided snowshoe outings for all ages every Saturday and Sunday. It's an opportunity to see the snow-covered park and learn about it's winter residents.

For more winter activities, be sure to check out our community section, this week on A7.
