Lady 'Dogs fall to Maidens; remain winless

The Ronan Maidens broke a 29-game losing streak that spanned two seasons with a 42-32 win over the Lady Bulldogs.

Ronan last won a varsity girls basketball game on Feb. 8, 2008, when they topped Columbia Falls.

The Lady Bulldogs — winless so far this season — were led by 11 points from senior Jessica Slaybaugh. Shelby Backer and Karissa DeMarco each added seven points.

Whitefish's (0-5, 0-2) schedule doesn't get any easier this week. They face Class AA Flathead High School this Friday at 6 p.m. at Flathead, followed by a showdown with Frenchtown Saturday at home before taking on rival Columbia Falls Monday.
